EV Adoption at CCS

The Evolving CCS Electric Vehicle Fleet

We are excited to report that the CCS fleet is evolving.

Over the past year, CCS has been using a selection of electric vehicles (EVs) and this commitment has recently increased as we look to control our environmental impact amidst rapid growth.

Finding solutions that align with our business goals and enable us to provide top-notch service while striving for net zero emissions is crucial. Our journey towards a greener fleet reflects this commitment.

Charging

The installation of four new vehicle chargers at our headquarters in Andover, Hampshire has been a pivotal factor in our successful adoption of EVs.

This investment in charging infrastructure underscores our commitment to sustainability and our proactive approach to reducing our carbon footprint.

Learning and Adapting.

The adoption of EVs, which now constitute around 10% of our fleet, hasn't been without challenges. Some of the original electric vans had limited range, making them less practical for our needs. These vehicles have since found new homes, allowing us to refine our understanding of what works best for our operations.

Eye on the Future.

CCS is focused on future advancements and emerging technologies. Recently, several of our team members attended an expo on electric and hydrogen-powered transport. While many promising options are on the horizon, they will not be market-ready for a few years.

Short-term Gains and Future Plans.

In the meantime, the knowledge gained from these experiences has empowered CCS to make informed investments in our fleet with the latest available technology. This progress will be evident in our new fleet additions expected in Q3 of 2024.

As we continue this journey, we are confident that our evolving EV fleet will help us achieve our sustainability goals and enhance the service we provide to our clients.

While we still rely on diesel engine vans, we are committed to minimizing emissions by investing in technology that optimizes route efficiency. We ensure that our engineers are dispatched to the nearest locations, thereby reducing travel distances and fuel consumption.
