Sophie Cotterell & Sophie Klien-Alfred Represent CCS
CCS was proudly represented at the recent Thames Valley Partnering with Defence – Meet the Unit and Business Networking Event, reaffirming our commitment to the Armed Forces community. Logistics Manager Sophie Cotterell and HR Administrator Sophie Klien-Alfred attended the event, held on Monday, November 24th, 2025, at the Thames Valley Police Training Centre in Reading.
Event Highlights and Engagement
The afternoon offered a comprehensive program designed to foster collaboration and understanding between the local defence community and businesses. Attendees were treated to a captivating Police dog demonstration, showcasing the discipline and specialised skills within the police force.
The formal proceedings in the main hall included a welcome from Thames Valley Police, followed by insightful presentations from Army Headquarters South East and a Local RauxAF Unit Officer. The agenda also featured compelling presentations from Reservists and Cadet Force Adult Volunteers, highlighting the dedication of these individuals and the transferable skills they possess.
The event concluded with a Covenant Signing Ceremony, where five new organisations officially committed to the Armed Forces Covenant, underscoring the growing regional support.
The remainder of the evening provided a valuable networking opportunity, allowing attendees to meet with other local military Reserve and Cadet units, engage with businesses, and enjoy refreshments. Guests also had the chance to tour the Thames Valley Police Museum.
Reflection on the Armed Forces Covenant
Sophie Klien-Alfred, HR Administrator, shared her personal perspective on the event:
"Attending the Thames Valley Partnering with Defence – Meet the Unit and Business Networking Event was a pleasure and especially meaningful for me as both a human resources professional and an army spouse. The presentations underscored the very human side of the Armed Forces, reminding us that personnel are far more than their rank or cap badge and bring invaluable skills and experiences that organisations can both benefit from and help nurture through genuine support for veterans, reservists, and military families.
A memorable highlight was the police dog demonstration, as it showcased an impressive balance of power, control, and resilience, which are qualities we see echoed in the service community and in the communities that support them. I’m proud to be part of an organisation committed to the Armed Forces Covenant and look forward to helping strengthen our efforts to support them even further."
