The CCS Christmas Present Drive 2024
Last week, Sophie, Ian, Lorna, and Emma visited Naomi House & Jacksplace Children’s Hospice, located in Sutton Scotney, just 15 minutes from our Andover headquarters. We were warmly welcomed by Lynda and the fantastic team of staff we met there.
Our first task was delivering all the presents kindly donated by CCS staff and directors. The hospice team was delighted to receive the gifts, sharing how each item would make a significant difference to someone.
After taking a few photos and spending a moment getting acquainted, we were given a tour of the facility. What an incredible place it is. As we walked through, there were moments when the more solemn aspects of their work became apparent. There’s a long corridor adorned with hundreds of photos of young people. It was a poignant sight, beautifully displayed as though these individuals are part of the very fabric of the hospice. In many ways, everyone who visits becomes part of the story – the children, the families, the donors, and, of course, the remarkable staff.
While it’s easy to focus on the sadness that naturally surrounds such a place, our overall experience was overwhelmingly positive. The joy and happiness that radiates from the vital support they provide is truly uplifting.
During our tour, we saw several children and families benefiting from respite care, specialist equipment, and the attentive support of the staff. The dedication, talent, and expertise required to meet the individual needs of each child were truly inspiring.
As we explored the building, it became clear that nothing was left to chance. Every detail, from the colour of the walls to the layout of the rooms, had been thoughtfully designed with care and purpose.
While we expected the tour to be tinged with sadness, and at times it was, the overriding emotion we left with was one of joy. It was clear how much the facility and its staff mean to the children and their families.
We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to Lynda and all the staff for taking the time to show us around. We are so pleased to have supported Naomi House & Jacksplace with our Christmas Present Drive this year, and we look forward to collaborating with them again on future projects.
